Ram Promaster Alex ESD Troubleshooting Guide – Key Fixes
🚪 1. Door Does Not Move at All
- Check Fuse – Ensure power supply fuse is intact.
- Battery Voltage – Make sure control box is getting power.
- Check main harness connection – Wiggle or unplug/replug black connector at control box.
- VSS interference? – If door won’t close while driving, check vehicle speed sensor wiring (VSS).
🛑 2. Door Starts Moving Then Stops
- Check drive belt – May be too tight or too loose.
- Belt should have 6–7 teeth of tension when door is closed.
- Check encoder cable – This is on the motor side. If it’s loose or damaged, reprogram or replace.
- Reprogram system:
- Turn off ignition → unplug & replug control box → ignition on → press driver switch.
- Door will cycle open/close with beeps, then stop open.
🔁 3. Door Closes Then Reopens
- Obstacle detection triggered – Clean belt track and check for physical obstructions.
- Potentiometer adjustment (on control box):
- Turn clockwise to make obstacle detection less sensitive.
🎛️ 4. Door Doesn’t Work from Handle or Remote
- Handle microswitch should not be pressed when handle isn’t being pulled.
- Reprogram handle or remote:
- For handle: Move jumper to J2, hold handle open for 3 sec → LED blinks.
- For remote: Move jumper to J1, press remote 3 sec → LED blinks.
- Check battery in the remote or replace if weak.
🎤 5. Beeping Sounds
- Continuous while opening/closing = Learning mode or obstacle
- Long beep while closing = Encoder or belt error
- Fix:
- Re-check encoder cable
- Reprogram cycle
- Adjust belt and potentiometer
